Sarah Grundy

HR Manager

Sarah joined the Trust in March 2019, having previously worked in manufacturing and service sectors. CIPD qualified, with over 20 years’ experience of dealing with varied and complex HR issues, Sarah is passionate about achieving the Trust’s aim – to be ‘The Employer of Choice’.

Jon Anderson

Health, Safety and Facilities Manager

Jon joined the Trust in March 2020 as Health, Safety and Facilities Manager after previously working for another Multi-Academy Trust as Regional Estates Manager. He has worked in the school environment for over 12 years and is passionate about making a positive difference in his work, especially within the local community. After moving from London 19 years ago, Jon is proud to call Lincolnshire his adopted home. His approach to Health & Safety is to use it as a tool to carry out tasks/activities safely, rather than as an excuse not to do them. Jon has a rich background in all aspects of maintenance and construction, and together with the wider Estates team he ensures our sites are kept safe and maintained to a high standard – and that we create learning environments that our local community want to send their children to.

Darren Whitworth

Catering Manager

Darren has worked in catering for 35 years. Trained as a chef, Darren has worked in various areas of the country – as well as in Scotland and New Zealand. He owned his own restaurants in Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, before relocating back to Lincolnshire and becoming involved in school catering. Since joining BWAF, Darren has expanded the catering team and been heavily involved with the design of our new kitchen at our Tollfield Road campus – so that now as a Trust we are self-sufficient and able to supply all of our schools with meals. Darren has also been instrumental in the introduction of recycling food waste for bio-fuels and plastic bottle recycling. His most recent project was the refurbishment of the dining room at our Marian Road campus.

Carrie Nicholson

Admin and Finance Manager

Carrie has worked in School Admin and Finance in the Boston area for over 25 years. She joined the Trust in April 2016 having previously worked in Grant Maintained and Local Authority Schools, and also for another Multi-Academy Trust. Carrie has been involved in the Academisation process and formation of a MAT, and was also part of the team which participated in the successful application for the first Free School in Lincolnshire – Boston Pioneers Academy. She is a qualified School Business Manager and also AAT qualified.

Steve Hardy

IT Services Manager

Steve studied IT Systems at college in the late 1990s, joining Haven High Academy in 2001 as their ICT Technician within the classroom. He also spent time mentoring small student groups, as well as providing cover supervision, then went on to provide IT support to several local primary schools as Community IT Technician under the partnership between Haven High and Boston Grammar School. In 2008 Steve returned to Haven High as Senior Technician, before being appointed as Network Manager in 2010. In 2020 he assumed his current position as IT Services Manager. Steve has been instrumental in the merging of our academies’ IT systems and establishing new IT networks. He and his team have introduced many new technologies to our academies and continue to do so, ensuring staff, students and pupils get the best experience from technology. Steve is currently studying for an ITIL 4 Foundation.

Nathan Black

Marketing & Communications Officer

Nathan, a fully trained journalist, has worked in marketing for the past 13 years. He first started his career in journalism in 2002 with the Johnston Press group, working as a reporter and editor for newspapers throughout Lincolnshire. After being promoted to the Senior Reporter position at the Boston Standard, Nathan moved into marketing in 2007 and took on the marketing responsibilities for the Boston Mayflower Housing Association. Upon leaving Boston Mayflower, Nathan went to work for Rolec Services as their Marketing Manager, before moving into the recently created role at BWAF of Marketing & Communications Officer. Nathan works with all of our academies, helping to promote them via press releases, photography, social media, the formation of links within the community and many other avenues – gaining valuable exposure for the fantastic work which is taking place within each of our schools every week.
